Renewable Energy at Moose Eco-lodges

At Moose Eco-Lodges, we believe in the energy revolution, in which solar, propane, and compost are utilized to lower carbon emissions. Water is brought in on an as needed basis and stored in cisterns. All products used in the lodges are biodegradable, including dishwasher pucks.

The fridges run off of solar power, along with the electricity. Stoves are run off of propane and the toilets are modern composting toilets. The composting toilet is ventilated and runs an air pump that allows the toilet to ventilate outside. The seat opens when you sit down and the urine is diverted to the trees for fertilization and away from the lodges. We find that we have purchased many items from Sweden, (i.e., our Separett Villa 9210 toilets and Asko washer/dryer in one). Perhaps they are one of the leaders in off-grid innovation. All other major appliance brands are from Unique Appliances. Don't have power? no problem!

There are a couple quiet generators for back up on those cloudy days for Moose and Kicking Horse Lodges. The combination washer/dryer is a vent-less laundry facility. The owners are currently considering bio-gas, in which the horse manure may be used to convert to energy. All kitchen scraps can also be used for the conversion of waste into bio-gas.
